bogies and underframes are a work in progress , the start is a track colour brushed onto all the bogies and undersides , believing humbrols track colour was no longer available i mixed my own from 29,186and 33 to darken ( taking care not to be too dark ) mainly because dark washes will be added late...

the problem you are encountering is that black is seldom just black , it can be a bitch to match depending on not only colour mix but also on surface finnishes try this experiment take a darkish blue simmilar to french ultramarine and a brown close to burn umber or raw umber then mix them together ,...

I find that the paints from the 99p shop are quite good for weathering especially when watered down a bit, but they do tend to dry rapidly. As weathering is not a precision finish it can be slopped on to any desired effect, or are there any paint spot counters out there to say that the results are ...
