Re: East Cheltwell
Was very happy to see pictures of this layout again! Next - I have ordered some point levers and ground signals as well as having a look at the Peco (static) point rodding to add some detail to the layout - was wondering if anyone has used the Peco point rodding? I have used the Peco point rodding a...

Re: Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
Hey all, I've done some work on the layout. One thing that bugged me was the rather rushed picket fence on the bank at the back of the layout. It was put in hastily before an exhibition as i realised without a fence people on the path would have fallen onto the track... not good. So i tacked on a Wi...

Re: Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
Finally some progress! The folding legs are completed for the scenic section of the layout. I can't actually do it inside the house so I've had to wait for good clear days when I haven't been working or been distracted by something else. The legs are attached to the board via hinges which allow the ...

Re: Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
Hey all. AS Exams are over and i'm back on the layout! My first task is to replace the legs on the layout. As this is an exhibition layout i need legs that are removable but strong enough to hold the layout. The current installation works by having two sets of legs joined up that bolted to the frame...

Re: The Weston Guy's Workbench: Warship Detailing
Good afternoon everyone. I'm coming to the end of the work on my warship. I've made the other fan and grills which are now painted and fixed on the warship. One last coat of paint and she should be good to go. I plan to weather this model although it could be a while as i have the fear of messing it...

Re: The Weston Guy's Workbench: Warship Detailing
Hey All, I did my last set of nameplates today for my Warship (D829 'Magpie). http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb350/WesternChampion/DSC_0517%20resize.jpg Once again I've used the same techniques from my previous posts for applying them. One thing of note is that on these etches the build plates ...

Re: Dad-1 Workbench
They are lovely kits to build. I think you can get decals for Parkside Dundas kits directly from Modelmaster.

The Weston Guy's Workbench: Etched Name/Number Plates Part 2
Thanks Nickbrad, they still need a bit of work but they look a lot nicer. I thought i do part 2 of my name/number plate adventures! Today i put name and number plates on my Hall (5923 'Guild Hall'). I used the same application methods as i had for my 56xx. The Hall has flat name and number plates wh...

The Weston Guy's Workbench
Hey all, i decided to set up a workbench thread as i feel spamming my Eastern Regioon Layout with work on WR locos is some what unsuitable  . I thought i'd kick off with my loco projects. http://i1201.photobucket.com/albums/bb350/WesternChampion/DSC_0520%20resize.jpg I decided i'd quite like to...

Re: Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
I meant to mention that. I do put varnish on the transfers as i know the pain of losing a perfectly placed transfer through weathering. Also when i finish i give them a spray of matt cote

Re: Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
Hey All, Not much has been done on the layout, i'm waiting to finish a couple of AS exams before going to work the layout. In the mean time I've been playing around with some rolling stock. I've been working on a big project I've been wanting to do for ages, building a rake of Dapol Esso tanker wago...

Felixburgh Branch (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside
Thanks for the comment, i do prefer the run down scene on a railway, makes it more real. On the subject of run down and grime i thought i'd share some of the weathering i undertake on my rolling stock. I work mainly with powders, paints and spirits and i'm yet to venture into airbrushes. I find this...

'Felixburgh Branch' (Ex-Newburgh): Eastern Region Seaside Br
Thank you whynot for the positive comments :) . Back three days in a row! I thought i'd post some sub-projects that I've been doing. One of the most significant projects was scratch building a station building. Originally the layout was to based in a town like Aldeburgh, however i didn't want to cop...
