Re: Llwyndrissi Halt.

Not wanting to hijack Mountains thread but for anyone interested in the mines I would recommend a visit to the big pit. I visited a few years ago while researching my family tree. My grandparents and great grandparents on my mothers side all worked down the mines, not a pleasant job. Dave Highlights...

Re: arboretum valley

Good stuff, I particularly like the last picture with the rusty wagons, any chance of some close up pictures. I'm starting to have a go at weathering some of my rolling stock, yours look really good, I'll be checking out ebay for some more cheap stuff to have a go at.

Re: Canford Quay

The final stage this morning was to give it a couple of coats of heavy hold hairspray, the next step will be thinking about laying the trampled brown static grass. To elaborate on my experiment of using foundation make up as ground cover. It's cheap enough, there are pots on ebay for a couple of pou...

Re: Hello from Telford, father and son building a layout

There's a lot of helpful people on here who have a lot of knowledge, don't be afraid to ask questions it's better to ask first than to get it wrong and then ask why it's not working properly.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Re: Canford Quay

This morning gave it a light brush with a soft paintbrush and this is the result, I did have some doubts about it yesterday, It does need a bit of tidying up. but I like the way it has come out. That is the easy bit done next I will have to think about patchy grass in the camp itself and thicker gra...

Re: Canford Quay

The 'Avon Foundation' has been applied, I was instructed on the best way to apply it to the board so following instructions I brushed a thin layer of pva, dabbed a soft brush in the foundation, held it over the pva and flicked so as to dust it on. Pictures show the result, it's hard to say how it wi...

Re: Canford Quay

Progress on the army camp at last. I painted up some supply cases, jerry cans and other odds and ends. The first two pictures are with them laid loosely in place to see how they would fit there will be another two soldiers kneeling sorting out the supplies. Next the cream coloured paint is where I i...

Re: A 1944 themed layout

It's a very old Airfix church that I picked up very cheaply as part of a job lot on ebay. It needed tidying up and repainting and after a mishap I had to replace the tower.
They are now available as kits from Dapol.

Re: A 1944 themed layout

I've finally found the time to do a bit more work, the painted fields are now static grass, a bit more along the front and some weeds in the ballast and the landscaping will be about finished. I need to get some figures painted but that's going to wait until the days are lighter. Looking back I star...

Phred - exactly what came to my mind, I'm giving that a miss for sure. lofty - thanks for that, I did think about a flag but wasn't sure, our local's are the Royal Marines and SBS so neither of those will suit but as the layout is fictitious but based on Poole I'll have a go at designing something b...
