Re: Pedant County - Update 29/8/10

A bit more work done, the base coat painted on the hills and rivers and some of the grass laid though a bit more trimming still needed....

Pedant county Update 26/5/10

Well, a lousy winter health-wise meant very little got done, however under my supervision Rachel did get some practice on our small layout to see what works and what doesn't. The results are below :- http://www.geeksatplay.net/DSC_0064.jpg http://www.geeksatplay.net/DSC_0065.jpg http://www.geeksatpl...

Re: Track layout design software

If you want to avoid buying it, get around the 50 piece limitation, and design a big layout using the demo, you could do your track plan an area at a time, screen capture each area then join them together at the end using an image editing program, that's what I did to start with, but I ended up buyi...

Re: bbc100p's layout

Enlarging the pics won't really help cos you can't add data that isn't there to start with, it'll just make it blurry. A 2 megapixel phone camera is capable of full-screen photos (my original 2 MP Nikon digital camera took 1600x1200 sized shots), I'd suggest checking the camera settings on your phon...

Re: John Geeee's Garden Shed

Hi John, I have to agree, they look wicked ! Must admit I'm somewhat apprehensive about the idea of weathering my rolling stock, I'd love to be able to get them looking like yours, but I doubt very much that they will lol (In the words of Mike & The Mechanics - "All I need is a miracle....&...

Re: As yet un-named

Hi Stephen,

What a great idea for the welding effect, hope you don't mind but I might just use the same idea myself - I won't be having any factories but you made me think I could have some welding going on in one of the engine sheds :D

Good luck with the layout !

Re: Pedant County - OO Garage Layout

Thanks Geoff, although you're selling yourself short there - the reason I went for mimic panels is because if I tried to remember addresses for all the points I'd be crashing trains every 30 seconds ! lol it's a bit of a shame I'm wasting facilities the controller provides by in doing it that way, b...

Re: Pedant County - OO Garage Layout

So, now those double slips are sorted all mimic panels are fully fitted and working, all point motors and accessory switches tested, main power panel and fusebox fitted (in fact the fusebox has already saved my bacon cos while fault finding an inoperable point motor and LED I didn't realise my multi...

Re: Pedant County - Double Slips

As there seems to be relatively little info on the use and connection of double slips I thought the following may be of help, not to the more experienced obviously, but to newcomers it might save a little bit of head-scratching. When it came to wiring up the last of my mimic panels (the one with 2 d...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

The camera I use is just a Nikon Coolpix S210. I take most of the pictures of my layout in macro mode and they come out fine. I think the fuel pipe unit was just too small for the camera to focus on. It was focusing on other larger items close by. Ah I see. Not sure how the autofocus works on that ...

Re: Clifton 009 Layout

Couldn't agree more, all those little extra touches have really brought this one to life, it's the layout that I look at when I need a motivation boost too, partly cos it looks so good, and partly because the way it's come together makes it seem possible for me to attain something similar. Whether I...

Oh I dunno, I recon that cow could pass off as being part albino

And if you're going to get a doggy, make sure it's an overgrown rat, sat in her handbag with a pink bow in its hair
Oh wait . . . horse and cart . . . scrap that latter idea, wrong era

Re: Pedant County - 00 Gauge Garage Layout

All mimic panels now completed and wired (except 1 led on the last panel cos I ran out of LED holders, typical !), as well as a main power panel and fusebox. http://www.geeksatplay.net/Panels.jpg Of course the downside to that is I now have another 94 wires to connect up under the baseboard ! http:/...

Re: Pedant County - 00 Gauge Garage Layout

Thanks Slackers, no you can't have her lol. Good luck with the zapping ! Well, all the point motors for the inner section are now fitted so other than replacing the 3-way when my order arrives, that's it for pratting about fitting points and motors, can't say I'll miss it. Tomorrows job is making th...
