Model Railway Scenery Review - Belisha Beacons
Hornby Skaledale Belisha Beacons (Pelican Crossing) – R8669
Rating 2/10

Review: I saw these beacons in the Hornby 2006 Catalogue, the picture (as
seen above) looked great. You get four beacons in a pack. The beacons look
yellow and appear to be free-standing so no need to drill holes in your layout
to accommodate them or so I thought!
When the
beacons arrived I was sorely disappointed with the product
produced. The beacons do not have feet to stand alone, you would
need to either create your own feet or drill holes in your
layout where you would like the beacons to be positioned. When
looking at the image above where the beacon at the bottom get
big and the white stops doesn't come with the beacon, it
continues straight down.
The
yellow beacons are in fact orange even though the packing
picture shows them to be yellow and with a stand. Some of the
beacons in the pack were not correctly aligned to be straight in
the middle of the beacon they were to one side. The paint work
completed on the beacons is appalling, the rings of black and
white are not straight, certainly looks hand painted and badly.
I could have personally done better myself with the painting.
