Model Railway Scenery Review -
Covered Coal Shed
Hornby Skaledale Covered Coal Shed - R8533
Rating 8/10

The Hornby covered coal shed is designed to allow a coal wagon
to be pushed inside. As the entrance to the shed is 3.5cm above
the bottom of the model you will need to either construct an
incline up to it or mount the building below the track level.
The detailing on this model is good with the usual mix of detail
and weathered effect. It features metal lintels, metal gutter
and drainpipe, and a pyramid shaped roof. The model has
sandstone walls inside and out with a slate roof and a cobbled
floor in the coal store. The metal lintels, guttering and drain
pipes are painted in a deep red colour. Inside the coal shed
there are two wooden platforms either side of where the track
would go. The inside dimensions are 11cm long, 6.1cm wide and
5.5cm high (from the bottom of the track bed to the roof
lintel.)
The look of this model matches well with:
R8629 Station building
R8630 Toilet block
R8631 Station Extension
R8635
Goods Shed
R8636 Engine shed
R8637 Stone Double Engine Shed
R8639 Water Tower
Overall this model looks realistic with no visual or functional
limitations. If you are looking for this kind of coal shed I
have no reason not to recommend this model.
