I know I have previously posted to this thread, but my favorite model has to be my bachmann 4965 Rood Ashton Hall. It is just like the real thing was when it was on the mainline, fast, smart, reliable, spectacular, untoppable.

Well there ios a good thing to do with that you hear it coming....then have a cup of tea...then go and watch it go past!!!david1943 wrote:Can you imagine having the vision and atmosphere of a crack British Express loco printed in your mind and them moving over to Australia where a crack express train was moving at 60mph and the rest about 40mph, no wonder it took me all of 35 years to get interested in Aussie Railways.
Even today the XPT (HST125) has a speed restriction of 120kph, cant go any faster the track is too unsafe.

Re: Your favourite Model, Any gauge.
I have 3 favourite models but I'm bending the rules slightly as they don't actually live on my layout, mainly because they're 00 and my layout is N but I built them so that sort of counts. They currently live on my dad's layout.
The first loco kit I ever built (about 30 odd years ago), a DJH ex Caledonian Drummond Jumbo
A WW1 era 'Tin Turtle (009) handbuilt from some very grainy photos
...and I bet you can't guess my ultimate favourite....
It has to be my LMS Garratt
As for stuff on my own layout, I don't actually have a favourite yet, I haven't finished building it (another ex-LMS Garratt ).

Re: Your favourite Model, Any gauge.
Hi mine is predictably my Hornby 50's which i have 5 at the mo 50017/24/30/31/45 with another 50020 Revenge on the way.In the abscence of 35 at the moment i would have to pick out as my 3 favourites
50017 Royal Oak RNSE (quite simply a monster the 2nd best of the entire class)
50024 Vanguard RNSE (simply because it has snowploughs and one of Old Oak Common's best engines fron the NWRA Tand C fleet)
50031 Hood large logo livery (simply because it is named after my all time favourite battlecruiser HMS Hood which was sunk by the Bismark May 1941 with the tragic loss of only 3 survivors out of 1500.) (Also again because another of Old Oak's NWRA T and C fleet.
Will post pics of theese hoovers later.
