Duffryn Road TMD - The Rebuild page 17

Postby Class 60 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 4:42 pm

Hi Guys,

A few weeks ago i had to make a tough decision on my previous layout, either keep it or get rid of it! I decided to get rid of it because i had to keep on getting it out from behind the wardrobe just to do some work on it, then when finished i had to put it back and of course it started to hurt my back doing it. So i wanted to do a small "shelf" type layout which can be permantly set up and also so i can showcase my locos :) so here it is.....

This shows the beginning of planning, using the track i salvaged from the previous layout.
Image

The layout is roughly 4ft x 2ft, showing a very basic TMD. I will modify the picture to show "what goes where etc" soon :) . Work started yesterday after a few hours planning and imediatley i painted the board grey.

Currently i've started to wire the track for a quick test before i get some point motors and other bits and bobs in the week.

There you go ! :D

Looks very promising - are you modelling a specific area or era?

Pity you had to bin the old layout Adam. Having said that ,I like TMD layouts - no coaches or wagons required just luverly locos !!
It also looks like a good building block for future expansion e.g. you could eventually have a through route at the bottom of the pic.
Best of luck with this one !

Thanks Guys

Andrew - era? well i would say 1999 onwards but its just a little project for myself to get back into the hobby again and to showcase my other models. :)

Tinsley - Basically its just the photo lol , mainly they're going to be used as sidings for the time being.

Ron - Your quite right about future expansions....it will get extended when hopefully it will be included with the loft layout my brother is starting :) , the layout at the moment will just be for me to get back into the hobby again.

here's a pic of the track plan
Image

A bit hard to see the writing so...

Bottom left says "Line continues to Cassettes"
Bottom right says "sidings"
Top right " Stabled locos"

thanks

Another small update.....i've fixed the tunnel into the board ( will show pic of it) started on the scenery!

Found another point which will now be placed to add an disused siding where i've got an hornby class 37 waiting to be extremely weathered  best place for them if u ask me

Will post pics up when i get sobered up and do a bit more work :)

An explanation for those of you not familiar with CF Booths .............the scrappy is at the back of Millmoor [Rotherhams Ground] .......Boothy had a big financial interest in the club until last season, when he called the debt in and this resulted in the club going into admin. ......hence the 10 point penalty they suffered from the Football League.
I know it's the fastest .....but why did they have to name it after a duck?

Tomorrow will see me finally wire up the track, place the disused siding just in front of the retaining wall and paint the hill :)
