Re: Anyone currently buying?
After a flooding incident I had to dismantle the layout and pack everything up so buying has been off my radar this year so far.
But as I'm planning a new layout now with hopefully, a very long circuit I saw Revolution Trains ad for the Cartic 4's (PJA's) which will be coming through, again hopefully, next year Q1 or 2 or maybe 3. But that fits in with my build timing anyway.
I have some personal history with the real wagons during the Silcock to STVA period so if they look the part they will be an interesting addition. I was prompted to get in quick when 'ERNIE' came through with some monthly winnings although as my outlay this year has been zero I could have justified it anyway!
Plus my regular OO German supplier Modellbahn Union have suffered fire damage and aren't accepting any orders so I couldn't buy here even if I wanted to!
Roll on next year.............

Re: Anyone currently buying?
SWMBO wanted some 4, 5 or 6 plank wagons behind some of her kettles. Fortunately, Rails were selling blocks of 3s by Hornby so bought her 5 blocks. Also spotted Rails had the backscene I wanted back in stock so bought that.
Then I decided the lightly weather Heljan 57 Thunderbird was too good a discount to turn down. Also bought a non sound chip for it. Well, it's coming up for that time of year in December, isnt it?

Re: Anyone currently buying?
No, still not buying, even sold a DCC fitted class 37 at the weekend.
However, OH YES, there can always be an exception.
I'm still a big kid and I'm looking forward to Rapido's Ivor the Engine
becoming available. That I will get, probably with the full set of wagons.
Otherwise it's sale time, at lest 3 more class 37's & a Cheltenham Flyer set to go !!

Itching to! There's the Heljan GNR style O2's, Rapido J52, Ellis Clark Quad Art set, and various wagons which only need to go on sale...

Only 2 purchases since I last posted here.
A large logo Lima Class 37 British Steel Ravenscraig.
Also another Triang 16T mineral wagon, for a couple of quid. This is my 8th. All are the same model, bit each is different due to fading and general wear and tear.

Re: Anyone currently buying?
Since Hattons closed down I've had to resort to using the bay of evils to source stock mostly. I get it sent to a UK address (my friends house) and then he combines packages and ships them over when I can afford to pay him for it. It's become an invaluable link as prices have gone up and there's fees and things. I have had things on preorder which have been very difficult to afford despite saving, I had a preorder for a CIE Genesis 4 pack and a full brake, it took 39 days to arrive after I paid for them, and when they did I had to pay nearly 40 euros in extra fees becuase of Brexit. I was just glad I could afford them as while I waited nearly a month and a half for mine, someone had them up on evilbay for over 400 quid.
I have the P class on preorder (Bluebell the blue one, I had it on preorder back in 2017 but had to cancel that time as I hadn't the money, hoping that doesn't happen again.) And the E1 No.110 (I think). But mostly these days I just go bargain hunting on the online auctuion house.

Re: Anyone currently buying?
Not a lot of hobby spending of recent, but things are a bit grim lately down under for any business reliant upon a surplus income spending, so genuine sales are rampant.
Whilst searching for pricing and regional availability on some urgently needed spares for my Omni airbrush to service the carpet monster's appetite and a worn part or two on one of my Badgers, I lucked an authorised Australian Badger distributor/dealer having a sale, with one item long on my wish list along with 'too good to refuse' slashed pricing opportunity buying on consumables and quite a range of stock which included a selection of kits.
I'm more of a list guy who triages stuff I want to buy when availability and price is right than an impulse in moment of marketed excitement buyer, so even with that temptation, I was selective. The single impulse buy was the HobbyBoss 1/35 Marder III Ausf M (Late production) kit. Having done the homework and ascertained it an accurate, contemporary tooling with good fit, design engineering and moulding on par with Tamiya's, the only downside -or advantage depending upon one's point of view, single link tracks. Sold! At half price of a regular price, wouldn't you if it was a subject which fascinated you which was missing from your extant collection?
Which in the excitement of it leads me to mention my major haul! AK Interactive are in the process of changing the packaging format of their renown Real Color lacquer hobby paints, unfortunately in conjunction with rationalising (reducing) their extant extensive range of available camouflage colours. Whilst they are in the process of running out the old at enticing pricing to replace with the new I just had to. I won't be boorish or shock by mentioning the cost of that paint, 69 bottles in all. Suffice to say hobby lacquers are the dearest to buy, and that the regular price point of AK Interactive Real Color lacquers is premium, ordinarily more expensive than either Tamiya LP lacquers or GSI Creos Mr. Color lacquers which in turn are 20% more than their respective X/XF and Mr. Hobby Aqueous hybrid acrylic ranges. And very nicely they'll work with Railway Modelling subjects, buildings, scenery, rolling stock as well.
The other kit on the left was more opportunity buy than impulse buy. The 1/48 ICM PO-2VS night harassment bomber with figurines I'd lusted after for an aeon. But one can't have everything one sees or desires, so at its all up at its regular price plus single item shipping it had just been deferred indefinitely -until now. Free shipping -the order having already met the criteria combined with a substantially reduced price on an already competitive kit price. Mine!... finally. Looking forward to building & painting that one, not so much to rigging its flying wires, although for a biplane it's relatively manageable good in that respect. Although quite a bit of choice, no early Night Witches insignia in the provided decal set though although one for a colourful 1945 46th "Taman" Guards IAP into which they evolved is.

A year late, but at least they have arrived. Ex Hattons Generic coaches purchased through Rails of Sheffield.
One GCR carriage and two L&YR ones. I know they are generic, but they fit in well on the layout and not overpower it.
In my local model shop there it was. "Buy me. Buy me."
Peckett B2 locomotive
Christmas presents to myself. Sorted.

Those look nice. Is "Ex. Hattons" a new business name to buy them from?
I actually remember their address off by heart.
180 Smithdown Road,
Liverpool...
Was the postcode LY something 3JS or something?
But yes! Sent many a cheque to buy things like their "50 assorted tracknpieces including two points £10. One knew that the odd few pieces would not be siding material, but there were new pieces mixed in with thatbso one was never dissapointed!
And the "Free circle of track if one spends over £35 on Hornby" and the "Free R620 uncoupling ramp/re-railer" (Both circle of track and the R620 needed to be claimed in the order) were greatfully recieved!

I pre-ordered from Hattons when they were trading. On Hattons closing down their pre-order sales were taken over by Rails of Sheffield.

I wonder if Rails continue, or plan to continue the lovely looking locos and coaches?

Re: Anyone currently buying?
I do not think so. I do love the length of the coaches. Hornby made some of a similar size and are still available in some shops. New Modellers Shop (who run this Forum) have a large selection. (No affiliation)

I still haven't opened my new coaches, a Christmas treat to myself perhaps...I need to fix the areas of the layout where they'll derail.
