The "Micheline" in England...

I came across this unusual and rare original photo of the French "Micheline" autorail on test in Watford, the tyres can be plainly seen, it seems well out of place...

That elevated driving cab is such a good scheme for a single set of driving controls in a vehicle intended to always run solo. Was it being trialled on the St Albans Abbey branch to assess the suitability of a unit for off peak operation I wonder? (And powered by Bovril too, I never knew that.)
