if the glue is not really set it wouldn't form a strong enough block with the Sisal fibers so to take the plkiers impression and later the drilling...

This broom has been made in an arbitrary bigger scale because the images were for a vriend modelling big, but for smaller scales is the same just for H0 or so I would use hemp fibers instead of Sisal cord. But the whole procedure remains the same...

I made the drilling with a 0,8mm drill bit and the Dremel but if you are not really handy with it may be you better use the drill in a hand chuck or ensure you have a band Aid at reach. (don't ask how I've learnt)
