Post by deemax1627 »

Hi All,
I purchased an engine on internet and it is a runner but it has a high pitched squeal when it is powered up.
Can any of you give me any advice on this problem?
Thanks in Advance

Hi and welcome. Can you tell us what it is you've got, someone may have experience of the same model. Hi pitched squeals usually come from the motor. The source could be, dry bearings, misaligned or damaged carbon brushes, foreign bodies between armature and pole pieces. It's difficult to be more specific without knowing what mechanism we are dealing with.

Usually vibration on the motor due to dry bearings BUT, be very careful not to overoil if you get the oil out. Only takes the tinyest drip applied by a pin. Sewing machine oil is suitable. But check the motor is relatively clean. Go gentle and take it easy with motors.
