Arboretum Valley is a number of connected smaller railway layouts and dioramas
Re: arboretum valley
Looking great. Fantastic scenery work and growth. The rust on the vw stands out very realistically. It will be great to see some more overall shots.

Thank you for the kind comment.

Stunning, I love that photo of the station. An absolute achievement with the water as well

Agree with Josh, the river and waterfall are very well modelled indeed, lovely detail throughout the layout.

Thank you again,
As it is the season, let it snow let it snow let it snow
FYI I grate foam, but after a couple of months it goes yellow LOL. Hoover required! It has natural static electricity though so now glue and easy to clean up later.

Wow those snowy shots look superb - esp. the last one with the realistic way the cars have melted the snow under their wheels . . .

Re: arboretum valley
That river is superb. What did you use for the water?
Re: arboretum valley
I always use varnish the old fashioned honey coloured stuff for horizontal water, then I usually use Deluxe Waves for any vertical water feature like waves bubbles water splash etc, unless i work in cotton wool as a support.
1710 flat water can go directly onto MDF and I usually do one very thin layer to ensure the varnish dries andd seals the areas, so it does not dribble and make a mess, then i add layers 6-8 layers or so and add texture at the edges, and i do not cover 100 percent but around 80-90 allowing the light to catch the missing areas inferring depth
1506 the edges and some texture added
1359 always paint the colours in the direction the water flows
5120 low shots encourage reflections
8528 while infers bubbles and movement
ballast, green turf, goods mixed and taken back off the layout, bits of twigs, are all good items to singleton's into the layers

Kalborough is an almost modern day station with sidings as part of Arboretum Valley, but does occasionally run in earlier eras.
