It's a Hornby "kludge" They made a brake van/short coach chassis by fitting step boards to the tool for the long wheelbase open wagon chassis, then didn't bother replacing the original when money was tight.

Because they did not kadees at this point I base sure something blocked the view of the poorest modelling parts

LOl thank you, I was just teasing someone elsewhere that a car I weathered had been renovated, although reversing photos does not look like a reservation BUT it got a laugh, it is obviously in the air…
