You need some equally subtle indicators that point to where the stop point is, almost anything you can think of that may be lying or standing next to the track. I have trouble with the one at the far end of the platform, so I have a porters trolley with load, but no porter that marks the spot, when I can see it between loco and coach it's the right place to stop. If I get it right I don't even need to reverse the coaches have just the right amount of momentum to uncouple.

Hi John,

It's all there ...... just so subtle you can miss it !
I'm still having trouble with wagons running-on due
to magnetic draw. I must check to see if Roxey do
either brass , or stainless wheel sets.

I decide I liked the fine Ratio loading gauge, but I had
a couple of small bits left in the bag, but no instructions.
I had a look on-line and was dismayed at the quality of
bracing in all the photographs. Perhaps they felt they 'Had'
to use the supplied fine nylon, but most of it was rubbish.
I decided to revert to good old heat stretched sprue, this is
the result before painting that arch. I never found where
those two small bits were supposed to go.

Image

This will be delicate and so very easily damaged, but it's
location will provide some protection - ONLY I will clean track
around the bridge & gauge !!

More done, here we have the gate still unmodified with
surrounding fencing. The gate now has an extended hinge post
with a 0.5 mm brass wire down to the end as added support.

Image

One lamp post secured, fence in and grass ..... on the viewing side. I have yet
to work out how/if I add grass over the ground on the road side. This view only
possible by camera in the road !!

No more work until Thursday.

That looks really smart Geoff - I am definitely going to do an inglenook (sometime!)

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Hi Jim,

It can be quite absorbing shunting around, easy to loose the odd hour !!
The fastest I've managed is just under 7 minutes, the longest more like 14.
We've probably gone a little over the top scenically for something we intend
to let anyone drive at exhibitions.
For a maximum space of 50" long, 20 " wide and with box top on 9.1/2" high
you get a lot for your space.
Off for a few days so a photo session outside while I was sorting out fencing,
gate and some places where Derek had used Bluetack to hold things which had
moved and now re-fixed with PVA.

Yes the gate is slightly more horizontal than where shown just plugged in !!

Hi Geoff. Your 3rd photo gives away the construction of the arches. Even if you don't run to a curved brick arch, a profile at the other end and some matt black paint inside would make it look like the view through a real arch. I put one under my street level station, to make it look like there was a bridge beyond the building. It worked, but then I actually built the bridge and now you can't see anything.

Back home,
Feeling the heat !! Funny although I keep out of the sun as much as I
can, I have tender arms and legs. I put it down to old age, never used
to have problems like this !!

Hi John,

It's the first time I've seen the bridge without the white protective film
over the clear plastic end. Not only the shape, but now I can see in that
side I note there is no brick paper on the hidden sides !! Not a major problem
in as much as you can only see that looking in from the side which was never
intended to be a viewing angle. Not quite my style though. Also noted that
the ballast is too thin as you get deep in towards the clear plastic end. With
the clear plastic panel held in with 6 screws I'll add additional ballast, probably
arrange an arch, but the hidden insides are rather incomplete, but to alter
that would be too difficult.

My main worry now is the sagging goods shed roof, we have 4 pillars to go in,
but they may not fit !! The roof is mostly 2 mm card so a couple of clamps
supported each side by strips of wood will be the first attempted remedy.
Perhaps it's been caused by my shed suffering summer heat with probably
40C daytime temperatures.

I'm currently finding PB almost impossible to use, it's freezing and not
allowing me to copy out the image address.
I have managed to raise this one, taken from the rather
iffy square bridge end.

Could be your XP machine is running out of memory. PB can now ignore the effects on XP systems when they make changes, which they seem to do, if not daily then, weekly. It might be worthwhile trying other hosting services, ones with UK or European sites may be better. I've noticed that PB becomes noticeably sluggish around 3 to 5pm. Whether it's their servers or the UK-US links getting busy I can't tell, and I can no longer just ask my stepdaughter "what's the state of the cables?" as she is now a full time mum.

Well, lighting has caused some difficulties, but I hope it's almost fixed.
Here we have two pictures taken with the transit packing lid on to
darken enough for photography.
First the goods shed with it's two pendant lights hidden from view, but making
bright pools of light on the platform. At the far end someone is welding in the
North-light factory end.

Image

Then we have two street lights, not particularly bright 1950's, could be still gas,
more likely electric. Had problems see electronics thread.

Image

Now Derek fancies a glowing brazier with someone clearing scrub and rubbish. I
hope the regulated 600mA 12V supply can take it all !

I went, or should I say I tried to get into Photobucket to delete all my files and account.
It was so slow I gave up !! The blank spaces with their warning is the best advert for their
change of business practice and a warning not to go there !!

Right here I should now have a picture :-

Image

I will not be going back to replace those lodged with PB, simply too many after 9 years of posting
in NRM. Sorry, but we'll be moving forward and not bothering to look back.

I WILL AND CAN GO BACK AND REINSTATE ALL THE MISSING IMAGES IN THIS THREAD.
IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS, FITTING IN THE ODD HOUR AS I CAN.
WE WILL BE ASKING THOSE WHO HAVE their ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND CAN HOST
IN ANOTHER COMPANY TO TRY AND REPLACE. FOR ME AND MY FILING IT'S EASY ENOUGH.

That's it Geoff, your spring might take some time getting wound, but once it is there's no stopping you.

Hi John,

Been out this afternoon, but 13 pictures in already, 33 to go. Not quite as fast as I'd hoped,
but I won't let those inconsiderate morons at PB crush me !!

I've updated my layout, workbench and a couple of other threads. From now on I'm waiting to spot them. Reminded me of the hours spent manually rebuilding access control lists when the M$ updater had bouts of self annihilation. Then what awaits you next morning, "My Screen Name's got no capitals" - "capitals come extra after midnight, put a change request in, might do them at half term"
