Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Lee, How much was a ton of fine ballast ?
Who knows you may grow to enjoy laying ballast.

Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Dave, given the scale of greenery you have, how many grams of static grass have you gone through and what applicator do you use?
I have an eventual plan for similar vast areas and have been collecting cheap chinese alternatives.

The large static grass bags do last quite well, 3 for 12 on ebay i have have used about 3 packs on this layout, i blend it in with the brown and mixed green turf sprinkle scenic stuff as well maybe that as helped spread the need for less static grass .
I use the plastic bottle that nock do, it seems to work fine for me just keep shaking it as you go.
All the ballast is done, track cleaned and trains tested over points, so picks of trains will soon be here i for one is Getting sick of the greenery now so i soon will be moving on to the next phase that is fences paths etc etc

Really is an amazing bit of countryside you've made
Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
It's really nice to see the old school names on here from back in the day , thanks for the comments guys.
Decided to have a change and start building the bridge, it should blend in nicely once the colours are added.

Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Hi all,
Thanks for the comments
Been busy on the layout last week started planting the trees, making a platform on the left side near bridge , wiring the shed storage area fitting the points and finally testing the track out.
Testing is going well with a few minor tweaks with some of the trains and track but all in all its going ok, will get a better video of the storage area once the training is completed by my little camera girl ( She either talks through it or its at a 45 degree angle )lol.
Quickly done this due to the demand of seeing trains from you guys

Enjoy

Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Progression has always been quick, with your layout, but N gauge are only toys

Re: Back to the lakes ( N gauge)
Thank you all,
Planted bushes the last trees and generally darkened some of the colours they was too bright, some photos look at bit too dark but it's better in person seems to all blend in nice.
Also finished off the front board and white starting a nice little waterfall that flows of the edge.

Oh dear!
Now you are going to have to take a circular saw to the layout!
As it's now so good, you have to take it too exhibitions!
