Rays Rails - New shop - Hatfield Heath Essex

Post by Alex3410 »

Hi All,

just thought I would let you know about a new model train shop that opened last week near me,

Ray's Rails
Unit 3
Heathview
Pond Lane
Hatfield Heath
Essex
CM22 7AB
Tel: 01279 739389
Mob: 07918702634

email: raysrails@gmail.com

www.raysrails.co.uk (he said he has a website in the works)

the shop is fairly small but had a nice selection of bits and a second hand section as well :D they had an overall of track and was more then happy to let me see some of the locos run around it -a very nice touch i thought.

did not stock paint yet (which was what i went in there for  ) but is looking into it

best bit about it is that its only about 10-15 minutes from me :D

That was my reaction when an advert for "Ray's rails" appeared in the classified section of Railway Modeller a couple of months after the disappearance of those for Mr Mansfield. Is there anyone who met Mr Mansfield, who could go and visit the shop. If first name is just a coincidence, then we should at least let the man know of Mr M's reputation.

raymansfieldmodelrailways.com seems to be based in sawbridgeworth any ideas if it still there?

a quick Google brings up some some rather negative comments about him and his customer service would be good to know if its the same guy or not

Ray Pond in Pond Lane :o . Nice place Hatfield Heath - or it was in the 1970's, many pints of Abbott quaffed at the White Horse - but - my first wife came from that village - ah well a downside to somethings  .

Hi Everyone

My name is Ray Pond,(i know i share the same christian name as a local second hand dealer, but that's where it ends) me and my partner Sarah have opened this new model railway shop in Hatfield heath (Rays Rails).
Im a member of the Chelmsford & District model railway club and DEMU.
We are in the very early stages, still getting stock in and our webshop is still under construction.
We now have Railmatch and revell paints in stock and today(11/04/13) our first order from gaugemaster should arrive, give us a call or pop in, info at www.raysrails.co.uk
We have all the major stockist on board,

Please feel free to ask any questions, we would be more than happy to answer them

Hope to see you in our shop soon

Hi Ray, I'll wish your enterprise well. I'm afraid I'm unlikely to "pop in as I'm passing" but I keep an eye open for your promised web site

Chelmsford & DMRC, well I never, please give my regards to John Dutfield, if he's still involved with the club. And the best of luck to you in your new adventure, from a former retailer. :)

Do you accept card payments in your shop? I forgot to subtly look for chip and pin machine last time

websites looking good - do you have some costs for your weathering service?

super to see a retailer on here answering questions about his shop. also, being 250 miles away, I'm unlikely to pop in, but will have a mooch on the website at lunchtime.

additoon - ok, looked at the website lol, Still in development. Would love to find a weathering day up here where i was shown the techniques? maybe something us manchester guys could do
