Hornby Railroad HST/class 43

Postby GWR_fan » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:06 am

I never see this item for sale anywhere. Was it a stillborn project or in very limited quantities? There is a spec sheet for it. Was it too highly priced against the better quality centre mount model and thus phased out very quickly?

The Railroad HST was only released in Virgin Trains livery (43100+43101 without their vinyl names), it was the ex-Lima model and is probably not in production because Hornby now have their new model to sell.

The link shows the older Hornby model which I doubt will see the light of day again.

Its a shame it was discontinued as it was perfect for re-motoring the old Lima HST. I've been trying to find one without any luck :(

Many of the RR HST parts, like motor bogies , bogie frames and underframes were available from East Kent Models and Abbiegails. But no service sheet has yet been published.

266B is the old Hornby HST, not the Railroad one.

R2702 is a super detail train pack, not Railroad.

Donnyrailman,
thankyou for the info. I mentioned the Railroad version as I have never seen one for sale and yet it existed. As regards the high spec model, well, nice loco but simply not worth the money to me. The only livery I would be interested in is the Swallow livery and the only one I have seen was not for worldwide shipping. I am actually more than happy with an older model perhaps upgraded with a five-pole armature and additional power pickups.
