Parrs model railway, Lowestoft

Post by Steamy »

Has anyone been there?

It's a lovely shop, and the owners are very kind people, brought my first wagons, the Railroad fuel tank set there, they saw it was my first Hornby set, and first time in a model shop, and hey gave me tips and the prices are quite cheap..

Lovely place!

Andrew (the boss) and his daughter Anna (who grew up in the shop and knows every square inch of it) are really lovely people to help and serve you.

Just like the way model and hobby shops used to be.

Going to make a pilgrimage there next week. Bit of a trek but apparently worth it.

I heard it had closed down, the man died or something and the daughter didn't want to own the place.
Please don't tell me it's true

I spoke to Anna Parr this morning about this posting and she and her dad Andrew both get hacked off by these rumours on forums.

Andrew Parr is very much alive and well, so is his daughter Anna, and they are both still running Parrs in Lowestoft.

No more rumourmongering please.

I must apologize, I just read that that happened on one of those review sites, like Yell or something, so I assumed that is what happened.

It would be great if they had a site, so you can order online, living over a hour away it's hard to convince people to drive me all the way to Lowestoft to just get a few parts or so, especially if there is a model shop up in town ( BJ models Kings lynn who are also great)

Yes I would say so, they sell used and discounted trains and items as well as brand new train sets, they sell accessories as well, apparently the owner has a friend who weathers trains really well for a extra £15 , and I've seen some of his work. It's pretty good.

Very friendly, and quite cheap as well
