Thanks everyone for you kind thoughts, the good news is that we have agreed a sale on the flat, so just to agree the move date, hopefully as soon as possible.
As an aside, I received a surprise birthday present from my son yesterday

Keeping it boxed until after the move, anyone had any experience of this kit?

Hi all

So the move went very well and we have been in the house for seven weeks. There has been a lot of decorating to do so have been fully employed painting etc.
Nothing done layout wise yet but plenty of potential in the loft which is already floored and has an access ladder. One of the previous owners had used the loft for something so there had been power and lighting, but this has been disconnected and needs replacing.

Parts of the loft have been roughly partitioned off and I plan to remove this, as a result this gives me a generous 19ft by 12 ft layout area, just short of the "Freezer Maximum". Not expecting fast progress, need to start scribbling!!

Cheers

How does that compare with the original G&N? Is a total re-incarnation possible, or in mind?

Hi Ex-Pat, IIRC the version of Gateside and Northbridge that started the thread (mk4) was only about 13ft 6in by 10ft so there is plenty of scope to create a full reincarnation with enhancements. My concern is that I have been here before, G&N mk1 was a very successful layout, for Mk2 I had 20ft by 10ft but I made a total hash of the design and it was ripped up long before completion. I need to sit down and very carefully work out the best use of space, I have learned a lot from the previous layouts, this is likely to be the last chance to get it 100% right!

G'Day Gents

Great looking loft, a lot better than the last few very cramped layouts. :D :D :D
