Had to cancel my order for this. What an old school dealer, no option to pay electronically and I don't have a cheque book, nor fo I fancy sending cash through the post. Will leave the wagon turntable for now.

Had the same thing here with a few suppliers - haven't written a cheque, or had a cheque book, for around 20 years!

He suggested a postal order, but with no Post Office in the village I would need to go to East Kilbride, pay £1 parking, buy Postal Order, including 12.5% fee (£1.40) and stamp for envelope to send (£1.10). So original price £7.25 with £4 postage added and including the above I have to pay £7.50 additional costs. Not happening.

It looked interesting, yea, I'm an old fossil and still have a cheque book.
Gets used 2, or 3 times a year.

Same here Geoff. I have the stub of my previous checkbook which has three consecutive checks for the annual renewal for our parish magazine.

Jim,

Did Glencairn sort you out ???

I liked the look of that turntable ..... fancied one rather than making
from a couple of redundant CD's. And I do have a cheque book !!

Hi Geoff, I have parked the turntable idea for now, plenty other things to do, hopefully going to build a dummy one from bits and pieces (when I get round to it)

Cheers

Hi all, big changes in the layout this week. I started by putting in some "wall" supports around the tracks at Gateside Goods which will support the Mavisbank board, these are 4" x 1/2" timber on a 3mm ply base. The ply base is screwed to the bottom of the timber then to the main baseboard.

I then built the low level platform using my tried and tested method of mounting board around a timber strip.

The first of 6 18mm dowel supports is already in place, need a decent 18mm drill before proceeding, one is on order from ebay. These will be essential supports for the upper board. I hope to capture the atmosphere of the old Glasgow Central Low Level line in its last years before closure in 1964, dirty, neglected and unloved!

Couple of general views. A lot of what you see is just temporary until I get all the track placing done full size and the holes for point motors established, then I can set up the timber frame to suit. I expect that this will take a good few months.

Exciting times ahead.

Cheers

That low level platform looks very interesting. I look forward to seeing how it progresses. :)

Thanks Phred,

This is Central Low Level after closure in 1964, you can see the sort of thing I am looking for, perhaps not quite as derelict!

Hi Jim,

I can see why you fancy making your version of that.
