Lists of N Gauge suppliers\manufacturers

Post by blooregard »

Does such a list exist on the forum?, it may be worth creating one that can be edited into a definative list as a sticky.

As I'm sure most N Gauge modellers are aware theres not much on offer if you just walk into your average model shop so its good to know about the other options available.

I'm sure there are many new N Gauge modellers who are only aware of brands like Farish, Dapol and Peco as this is usually the only stuff available in your average model shop.

Any thoughts?. Is it worth doing?, how can we create a list that can be updated while staying tidy?.

Could PM a mod and ask for a thread to be made a sticky. It's a good idea too, as once you're beyond the mainstream rtr stuff from Farish, Dapol and Peco, N Gauge really opens up. Just look at the Union Mills stuff, the kits from Langley, the NGS, 2mm Society, TPM and so many more! A thread of whats available would be quite handy as a reference for everyone working in this gauge as well as newcomers.

I think you guys are right and this is a useful idea.

In addition to what's available and from whom, feedback on quality of product / ease of build (for kits) etc could also be part of the threads.
In particular I'm thinking of those suppliers who advertise in the back of magazines but don't have a web presence - I've always shied away from buying from them because I can't see a full and proper colour picture of the items I may be interested in first - and don't have a clue as to the quality of the product.

Sounds like a plan, so do we start a new thread and ask a mod for it to be stickied and maybe get people to post additions in this thread and ask a mod to add them to the list?

It would be great if we could end up with one single post with a definative list rather than having the list fragmented over several comments.

Why bother to create a new list when it's already been done many time before with two of the best available on;

Does anyone know what's happened to B H Enterprises? They weren't at Norwich MRC's exhibition at the end of March as scheduled and I've been trying to access their web site for a couple weeks without success.

KATO of Japan, supplied by M G Sharpe of Sheffield. KATO are the only company that I'm aware of that does an incline and high level system, also banked curves for high speed trains. Excellent system where the track and accessories simply click together. also believe that TOP SLOTS & TRAINS of Blackpool also sell Kato unitrack system.
