It is a 'Kinda' splasher, but not for the J3, I sometimes cut off a couple of mill, off of a 25 mm bit of pipe, cover the end with a sheet of 10 thou, then cut splasher sized bits out of it, does that make sense ! The J3 will have a large rectangular middle splasher, incorporating two sand boxes, and a normal curved splasher at the front, I have made the middle and back splashers and have fitted them, I'll up date a picture of the J3, my mistake, it's a J4.

Re: Edgware GN, Bounds Green.
I like that idea - the pipe keeps the curve of the splasher nice and uniform.
Re: Edgware GN, Bounds Green.
G'Day Ex-Pat
Yep, it makes it easier to make splashers that way, and it works on all pipe diameters.

Major scare on Saturday, a couple of large Bushfires burning South of Pentland (where I now live) all joined up, the wind (gentle) was pushing the fires towards the town, a neighbour, told me that the Police had informed some people on the South side of Town to prepare for a Possible evacuation. That gave me a bit of a start, 'What to pack', the caravan was made ready to go, the car was loaded with anything that was deemed savable, most of my railway stuff is already in boxes, so they were loaded in the van, tucked into any and every hidey hole, but all my tools would have to remain as would any other homewares and clothing, There I sat waiting ! Watching the big Fire Bombers dropping Red/Pink fire retardant on the fire less than a mile away, helicopters were flying from the 'Racecourse' to the fire with large buckets of water to tip on the flames. The evacuation order never came (Luckily) and I'm still here, but I packed in such a hurry, I have no idea where everything is, going to take ages to find all my bits. So don't expect to many updates for a Month or two.

Wow! Glad you're OK.
I'm sure you would have had your fire evacuation plan sorted in advance but we only realise how much 'stuff' we've accumulated when we actually have to prepare to get out quick.

Thanks for the reply's. Don't have a main bushfire plan, because most of my stuff is already packed, but that will have to be addressed in the future.
Yes very grateful to the Rural Fire service, it was a pretty big fire, plenty of fire engines racing up and down.
To make matters worse, on Friday, when the fire was already burning, a large Tanker truck overturned, up the main Highway, closing it for 5 or 6 hours, the town was packed with cars and trucks that couldn't get through.

The J4 is slowly making progress, I managed to find it near the top of a pile of boxes, but I couldn't find the splashers I'd made, so I made some new ones, the cab has had it's edging done and a coat of paint, I was going to fit the handrails, but all the brass wire turned out to be .5, when I wanted .33, so that's a job that will have to wait a while longer.
Fiddled about with my old Edgware controller, hooking up a couple of wires which gave me enough to work the up & Down Hertford lines plus the Down Goods line through the ' Khyber Pass'.
I'm replacing a broken cardboard box (full of trains) so everything had to come out, I found my Sentinal steam railcar, so I gave that a run to.

Shirt off I see. OK for you in the tropical zone.
Still waiting for summer to properly arrive in SE Queensland.

Thanks for the replies, Quite like the half cab J4's, but this one will need a new tender. Yep, shirt off, nudging 36c, and with the front and back doors open, there's a cool breeze. Also, with the doors open and the windows, photography is a little difficult as the amount of light is in the wrong place, one of the reasons I use the Flash, still trying to change the aperture, sudden thought, I might have to put in Manual mode to do that.

Re: Edgware GN, Bounds Green.
I thought with one-track mind "What's Frodingham got to do with this" and then realised 36c is a temperature!
But then coincidence struck, as a couple of minutes research revealed that 6264 became 63818 and which was actually shedded at 36C Frodingham.
Bet it feels good to get stuff moving - looking forward to more. - What load is on the O4?
Re: Edgware GN, Bounds Green.
G'Day Ex-Pat
Yep 36c is the Temp, not the shed, isn't it strange the O4 was based at 36c, Frodingham. The O4 only has a small load on, as it's only a test train ( and I can't find half my wagons) I've run it around and over the flyover a least a dozen times without any problems, although I think I'll ease the sharp curve on the flyover, no problems with the loco's but some of the stock shudder a bit, so a littl more work on them.

Re: Edgware GN, Bounds Green.
That second photo shows real character, and I see from the fourth why you want to ease the curve. At ease men!
