How hard is it to find those Peco Wonderful Wagons these days? I have a couple here and think they're really cool
Relatively easy to find the most common of the range s/h in the UK, due to the well known SABLE tendency among hobbyists in many interest groups.
I sold a few unused kits back in the 1970s, when the much more useful plastic and whitemetal kits designed for (or readily taking) pinpoint axles in brass bearing inserts from the likes of Ratio, 3H, Slaters, ABS, transformed wagon kit building in 4mm. These completely outclassed Peco WW because they offered a much wider choice of essential wagon types which Peco had neglected, covering all of pre-group and big four company designs, the BR replacements, and RCH design wagons used by both the railway companies and the Private Owners; and - further benefits - yielded a far more free rolling result, with simpler couple mounting.

The answer depends on the coupling you choose. Bottom line is that the metal casting of the Peco item is a good mounting point, but typically the bufferbeam mouldings either have to go or be extensively modified to make best use of this, and ideally the coupler mounting is arranged before the wagon body is assembled.
