It should always be 'Fun'
Another video of things running around St Oval.
This time a secondhand Dapol Pug bought some time back and while not quite forgotten rather neglected.
With all my general use digital it needed conversion. The only place for a decoder is in the cab and I'll look
at blocking the view in with a crew - at some time in the future !!

https://youtu.be/lrBKDyKV3ek

With the current inflationary pressures I'm certain we'll hear more of the "It's such an expensive hobby now"
Well it needn't be, but you do need to know what you're buying. It would have been easy to buy a Hornby
Smokey Joe, but those Hornby 0-4-0 chassis are not good, although they can be much improved. This For
£20, much better, and that IS cheap when one meal in a half decent pub will cost you that much !!! This
will continue working for years.

I wonder what will grace St Oval next ? I love little locos, but can a 4-6-2 go around here ???

Far to long without putting in an appearance. Bet you she's skulking in the loft.

Sulking ? No not Marilyn.
Although not on camera she was bashing a few 'old' GWR opens around in the last week.
I could hardly believe that Feb 2020 was her last silver screen appearance.
Perhaps I can think of some unusual working for her.
Being careful not to spread Covid brought into the house by one of the kids. Still call him
that at 53, my tests still show negative, but I can probably find time to hit the loft !

Cracking good video. More please. The sound is superb. So much ambiance in a smaller space. I do wish to file a formal complaint, however, the narrator tells me it is in the morning. Personally, I find mornings to be reprehensible. Then, I live on the border of Mexico. We tend not to get started much before 1000. Could you please indicate that it is twilight, or thereabouts, in future productions? This has shattered my nerves. :D

Thanks Chops.

My New Years resolution is to get on and finish this layout. It's always been by-passed by later projects, however
I've reached the point where I have no more room for any additional projects.

Good to see the layout again and keeping it fun. Got to keep model railways fun.

I am still trying to get my head around running long goods trains. Here in Sovereign Street three or four goods vehicles are the norm.

Carry on the good work.

Hi All,

With the first page of Layouts Under Construction holding postings since the beginning of
November I know things are VERY slow.
In that case why not add a restful video of a slow freight ......

It's not very often that I look at peoples Youtube offerings other than perhaps Pendon Museum's.
However I noted that Jennifer Kirk had done one on the current bargain in the market. The
Kernow (DJ) 1361 now only available in BR black, early & late at virtually £70. The offer is so
good that even I was looking at it with itchy fingers - However I do have the GWR version that
is currently causing me problems on Hells Door Yard's set-track points. I know it can run O.K.

Her personal review on Youtube had one respondent asking what it could pull, plus other minute
details. I was hot and grumpy ! What the hell do you expect to use a very small saddle tank for ???
It just so happened that I'd in very hour modified an old Airfix wagon to NEM pockets and Bacchman
narrow tension-lock couplers. All ready to test run - as usual on St Oval.
I hooked the pesky 1361 out of the shed stuck on St Oval with the line of wagons currently living
there, amounting in all to 20, to be precise 19 and a brake van.

I linked this into a reply on Jennifer's thread. Perhaps I could have been more polite, But I wasn't
rude !! She's dead right this, while available is a super bargain !!

Even that young whippersnapper Sam now qualifies his haulage comments with "that's more than the real thing could pull" There's hope for him yet

Ouch,

Spring has sprung, St Oval's fallow months over. After a track clean, really needed one
this year, I decided to re-number a selection of my small locomotives into a sensible
sequence. The Dapol LNY Pug has been on decoder default 03 ever since I put a decoder
in, perhaps 2019 !! The Ruston DS48 was also still on 03, I was getting in a mess.

The Pug didn't look like it had been used much, but was dirty from storage in a box without
the 'Window'. Given a few laps to stretch it's legs I decided to do a video.

A very impressive performer, especially at slow speed. That cow in the left front of the layout looks fascinated by it! :)

A bit late, but thanks for the comment Phred.

We have bright cows down here in Dorset !!

Anyway an unusual sight on St.Oval, a passenger train !
Always planned to be used here, but got put aside as I hate painting coaches.
Obviously I much prefer freight, but I suppose it HAS to be done before they
die of old age - even some rust on the coach wheel tyres.
