Hi bud.
Yes it’s grey etch primer. I just used aerosol.

Lovely work. :)
Nice to see I'm not the only aquarium nut on here. My first attempt at a saltwater tank was circa 1970. Things have changed a lot since then!

Yes it’s a strange hobby. When I have no tank everyone misses it. When I have a tank full of sps I only have to look at it wrong and it all dies.

Started fettling today.

Need to decide on paint scheme quickly. 🙄

Make sure paint is going to be shiny as larger scales need glossy paint.
I like either a lovely B.R. black with red bufferbeams and red con-rods
OR, B.R. blue with yellow con-rods and wasp stripes.

I was lucky enough to get a weathered Hornby version of that, S/H from Hatton's. Looks lovely but then I also like the green with red conrods and buffer beams. Choices,choices...

:D

Think he will need to write down the choices on paper and put them in a hat, and feel around for B.R. blue and pull it out?

Hehe.
I’m leaning towards br blue. It was originally going to be but as a second thought I figured it maybe too common.

Sorted the roof vents tonight.

Are the Track Crew ready yet ? That looks on the outside

Thanks Geoff.

I wish it was. I’ve just been trying to get the body finished.
There’s nothing inside yet 🙄🤣
Even though it was inside the moisture in the air was causing loads of rust.
It’s primed now. Just the cab roof to fill a few uneven bits then stick some small rails on and I can paint it.

Unless I decide to cut a hole in the back of the cab for on off switches with a screw down cover.

keep in mind a fair few Class 08 have ended up in all sorts of private owner colours you really do have a free hand to make up something if that takes your fancy as well

Well it’s been a long time it seams.
Had so much to do. A never ending list of jobs.

We have to move units at work so the place is upside down and I’ve pushed to get this done.

So continuing.

I added some strengthening to the chassis.
Unfortunately this has twisted one corner up about 5mm. I can only grind the body to fit.
Drilled holes for motors and cut the chains.
IMG_0876.jpeg
Made the first wagon chassis.
IMG_0877.jpeg
Added the buffer beams and decided instead of plugging the holes and grinding smooth I made them to look like big rivets.
IMG_0879.jpeg
Added tray for battery’s.
IMG_0878.jpeg
Added uprights to bolt control electronics too.

Then as I’m time limited because we have to move I decided I can add the leaf springs later and also the oil box things.

I added supports though for the leaf springs.
IMG_0881.jpeg
Started making the steps.
IMG_0882.jpeg
The front steps were difficult as I had to move the chassis sides out to accommodate off the shelf bearings.

Steps made. Hook added and some front bars.
IMG_0883.jpeg
I’ve decided to hammerite the chassis to stop and rust. I don’t mind the chassis looking a bit rough.
Weather permitting I’ll do it later today.
