This looks handy for something…

Have any questions or tips and advice on how to build those bits that don't come ready made.

Thank you, gentlemen, you're very kind! :D

As to weathering effects, I don't think the brick paper will take very well to weathering solution. Hmm - maybe some sort of powder would do it.
The brick colour looks quite dark and old in real life but looks almost pink in the photos. Don't know why. The rest of it looks pretty manky as is, I think.

Those steps at the back look a bit dangerous to me. I think it would be worthwhile to put a parapet (?) on there to stop people falling off. Don’t know if parapet is the right word. What do you call a solid barrier on a balcony/landing or whatever?
Made a start with some balsa wood:

Roughed it up and applied some paint/weathering. That chap on the landing looks a bit concerned about the damp coming through the brickwork.

And I think that’s the project finished!
Here it is on the layout:

OK then, that’s it until I get another harebrained idea!

brick paper is fine with weathering, just don't saturate it, I've got a fair few Metcalfe card kits and all have had acrylic washes added without any issues

of course there is zero need to do it, just something thats possible, drybrushing etc is very simple and also harmless.

and as for it on the layout, thats looking spot on, and has something many infrastructure models lack, its got a feeling of being actually the right size

I've enjoyed following this thread, the end result looks really good. It's my sort of low cost modelling.

Thank you, kind sirs! :D
Yes, I'll have to start thinking about what to do next, but last night was my son's 40th birthday party and for some reason my head is thumping this morning.

surely this means some new silos or fuel storage tanks are on the cards, after the tins contents has been so helpfully emptied
