That's a very neat job - and a very neat box - what did you use for the box?

The switches came from here

The case from here
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/joecooul

His N guage lights are brilliantly made too and highly reccomended

The track display was designed on the mac using one of the track planning softwares the name of which escapes me right now and is just a cropped printscreen resized to fit

A little update
My work have decided in their wisdom to lay me off as of 31st December but with 6 months salary as a redundancy package.
I should be sad :(. But i didnt have the heart to tell them I was gonna quit the end of January as the house sale in finland has gone through
I have from now till the new year booked as holiday as Im of to spend Christmas in Finland. This does mean no updates on this layout untill at least the middle of January.

However As mentioned in one of my other posts we are building a large G scale layout in finalnd, tho this will have to wait till the Spring

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Dont let the credit crunch bite to hard into your Christmas :)

Company's are good for that. It has been ideal for you from the sounds of things, but still not right. No time is good time to lay people of but Xmas is the wrost time.
Company Xmas card reads
Merry Christmas and happy New Year, as you are getting made redundant.
Not that I even got a company Xmas card, But I did get a "We want you to work every day between Xmas and new year!" I will take that as a merry Xmas from the boss and a happy new year.

ah nice layout ;)
Think I should go take one of my happy pills!

Im currently working on the design for the "bridge over the river Kwai" in 'G' to span the river in the garden

Im considering sensors so it plays Colonel Bogey as you cross the bridge

Considering the price of G scale rolling stock I wont be blowing it up tho :)

Re: Noob With new Layout in N - Is No More

Post by Essex2Visuvesi »

Well after some careful thought (and the cost of posing a 4x2 layout to finland) I have decided that this layout is to be no more :(

Getting UK outline N gauge kit in finland is not easy and to keep having stuff mailed is a pain. Many shops seem to think that as im out of the UK that they can charge what they like postage wise (one who will remain nameless wanted to charge me 20.00 to post 2 mk1 carriages)

Im not giving up tho...
Im starting a new layout in the entrance hall 1700mm x1700mm x 600mm L shaped layout :D
this is going to be German Era III steam as the kit is easier to source here and some of the locos look really good with DCC.
It will also incorporate THIS :D in my LMS for just over 100euros
And maybe one of THESE too

this is the set Im starting with, the loco is good and its DCC

Ill be using the felishmann preballasted track as its the most readily available
More details to follow
