Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout
J94 68049 with a train made up of a couple of old Mainline coaches at least 35 years old.
This must be the first time out of their boxes for these 2 coaches for many, many years.
The coaches and the J94 go all the way back to Petersdale version 1 in the mid 80s.

Re: The story of PETERSDALE my OO gauge Branch Line layout
MINOR DISASTER AT PETERSDALE
Not a derailment or shunting accident.
Not even leaves on the line but ...............................
MICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
About a week ago I was doing my annual 'can I throw anything away' search in the layout shed.
Of course there's loads of other non-railway stuff in there as well.
At the end of the fiddle yard I've got a big plastic container with bird seed in it. It doesn't have a top so I cover it with some old plywood.
There they were the tell tale signs the little black droppings. Those rodents were squatting in the shed. It was the first time I'd had mice in the shed since it was built.
Later I was having a check on the layout when I saw a few swans on the canal lying on their side. I didn't think much of it until I saw a pile of debris on the track at the colliery junction. The little critters had done a beaver job on some trees up against the backscene on the left hand side of the canal (as in the picture). They'd been for a wander around the shed yard by the looks of it and knocked a couple of the Farmer's Shire Horses over in the field above the shed in the back corner.
Nothing else was touched. I thought they may have had a nibble at the card buildings but they hadn't.
The one thing I haven't checked is the wiring. They don't seen to have been on the layout since but who knows. They don't seem interested in the bait blocks I've scattered around the layout either.
I have placed a bait box on the floor under the layout so they may be in there on their backs with their legs in the air stone dead fingers crossed. I'll have to check.
We shall see what happens.
