Cheers Don, it looks a lot less 'toy-like' now it's weathered. Although the fitting of the detailing kit and brass sides had been done very well, the paint job let it down somewhat.
The Prime Pork van I had to get for my better half, simply because she loves pigs! If I see a couple more reasonably priced I'll get them so she's got a small rake of them. Same with the kitkat van; that was bought because she works in a tourist attraction all about York's chocolate history. She saw it at a toy fair a while back and so it had to come home with us :)

Busy weekend, which included a day at the York model railway show and a meet-up with Jas, known better on this forum as Tractor37. I managed to get into town on Friday and acquired a couple more vehicles, as well as a Ratio crane kit, now built.
Image
Jas brought me a box of goodies which will appear in this build diary presently. Much appreciated mate! But for now here is what could prove to be a resurrection attempt too far. Or could it...?!

More next week.

Well the 'bible' is in the truck with me to be pored over during breaks, as to the other goodies I intend to feature them on here as I prepare and use them. All I'll say is the goods areas will soon look much busier!
As to resurrecting that 20, a trawl of thiefbay has already yielded the parts I need. So I just need to see if I have the patience to finish fitting the body out, or if the loco has an appointment with my wall too! :D
Forgot to mention, after swapping some bits off the spares chassis the jinty is now back off the naughty step!

Got home yesterday night, so I did a little bit of work on a couple of Goatbridge Shed's more sickly occupants. Firstly the Fowler 2-6-4T had its new RH valve gear fitted, and a loose wire replaced
Image
And has now returned to traffic. The more I run this loco the more I get attached to it. It's a keeper for sure!
Image
Work has commenced on the 20. I reassembled the drive bogie, all seems well in that department. I have however had to order a new dummy bogie and a propshaft for it. If anyone needs a propshaft for a Hornby/Lima 20, drop me a line. I have a few now!
The bodyshell is I think just about salvageable. I sanded the bodyshell till it was free of brush marks, glue runs etc, fitted out the brass bits and pieces, then gave it another coat of primer
Image
After this had dried it got its first coat of BR green
Image
Hopefully the postman will bring the new bits of running gear in time to be fitted at the weekend, and maybe just maybe it'll move under its own power soon! :)

And the freight area populated up

Cheers for all the above Jas!
Got a little bit of trackside scenics done too

After all the hard work I had a running session too.

Liking the newly filled goods platform, those loads look sweet, and you've done a great job on that 20 :)
I wish I could have done a similar quality job on repainting my 33 :/ ah well, must get the 3mt and the Duchess to you in the next month or so depending on bills so you can work your magic :P

How do squire...
Nice to see the old 20 back to life. Just don't think I'd of had the patience to make her whole again so glad its in a good home now. The freight stuff is looking good now its all painted up. Think I've got around 200 of the sack loads now!! Just need to make a load of pallet bases for them.
Top work pal..

Cheers chaps! Especially Jas for the freight and the wreckage of the 20.
Mr Court, when you're ready get them sent over. Bear in mind I'm away for a week early in May, so i'll not be able to get on with them too quickly.
Jas, enjoy painting that little lot mate! They really take the acrylics well.

It's mostly been about the pub this weekend. Not the full size one (although a pint or 2 was consumed in York on Saturday!) but the second of Goatbridge's pubs. I was given a built Metcalfe pub by Jas, and then within a week or so an unbuilt kit of the same building! I obviously can't stick 2 identical pubs in the town, so I decided to use bits of the kit to extend the built example. And here it is!

Image
And the nice big courtyard means it's a good place for a servicing stop for the local rally event!
Image
The other little project I've been working on is for a certain Mr.Court of this parish, a verandah coach for his Titfield Thunderbolt project.
Image
Bert has to test it in his role as Goatbridge Works' supervisor, of course!
Image
Before it sees service on a branch line special

The station looking busy, with the special waiting to depart, and the coal train and the 20 passing through

Re: Goatbridge, N.Yorks- To The Pub!

Post by Alexander Court »

Have to say that the veranda coach is absolutely FANTASTIC! Thanks so much it really does look great :D hope it wasn't too difficult to construct. The pub looks fab too, Hope I have room for a pub on my layout somewhere so that I can send my Guinness horse and dray to it, many more buildings to add now??

Thanks again :p
