Had to buy a single DCC Concepts IP Analog point motor for the new additional siding Ive put in! Had to buy a Bachmann blood and custard Mark 1 coach with it else the postage for the IP A on its own would have been silly.

Well, it would have been rude not to buy the coach for the heritage stock!

that single wheeler looks very nice I have to say, while these packs are not exactly cheap, and in some cases are a nice loco with cheap coaches, I still think they are a very good idea.

what hornby need to also do is have a "trainset minus the train", i.e. track pack, controller etc as a white box that can be added to these as an upgrade.. instant trainset

also.. Pondering the Accurascale J69, pre order £230 DCC sound fitted... very similar to what I paid for the G5 I have.. I think however I'm going to live dangerously, risk it selling out but figure if it doesn't in a few months will be on sale ~ 20% discount, or TMC will have a general sale on..

Who dares wins, although I have been bitten by this strategy in the past.

it helps that its a locomotive I can live without, would end up as the station shunter, the station that is probably a year or so away form needing a shunter. also have a decent sized purchase coming up (Warlord Game's "Revolution" game set...)

This has worked well for me since about 2004 when Bachmann's low-low-low introductory pricing had risen from the initial 'I couldn't kit build this myself for two times this price'. All it requires is patience, sometimes for a few years; everything becomes available; most of what's on my layout has been reduced price or at 's/h discount'.

To be clear, there have been exceptions, the Clark Railworks Quad-Arts the fourth such in twenty years, as I reckon a re-run is unlikely, discounting probably not going to happen, and the general reception could be summarised as 'you can really see what you have paid for'. (The accompanying booklet alone kept the wife busy for half an hour.)

On a more general note, 0-6-0T like the Buckjumper - unless a very special livery version is a must have, such as the bulled up station pilot - are always going to resurface pretty rapidly, even if there is an immediate sell out. What will be a run down and filthy black BR early totem J69 will come my way- eventually...

yup, basically that. and even if they do sell out and never resurface, which is unlikely as a second run has much higher margins than the first they will surface second hand occasionally

so the first run price is really for the "MUST HAVE!!!!" types, if it doesn't sell out there won't be a second run, but there will be discounts

at some point a second or third run doesn't sell out so discounts apply

so far I have only one brand new locomotive, the G5, and that was on 25% off as TMC still have quite a few of them left

Not doing mush beyond my 'Ivor' project
BUT I needed a few more Kadees, so £60 worth ordered from NRM shop today.
#17 needed on my brass/white metal SWB wagon kit builds
#19 to get standard 9 & 10 ft wagons around the silly bends on Ivor's layout without
buffer-locking.
Too hot to work outdoors, particularly as the track distorted in direct sun yesterday.

Triang Albert Hall in nice condition. It took a while to fine a non damaged example for a decent price.

Do they have the Dapol screw fitted pocket mounting ?
I try to keep to Pocket fixing as it allows one to easily switch
back to standard tension locks.
Just today I've been mucking around with a couple of Dapol
RTR coal wagons and found the original Dapol mountings were too high
to align well with most Bachmann & Hornby stock. To overcome that
I've replaced the Dapol fittings with a Peco PA-34 dove-tail mounting
blocks. With these put on by me No.18's are what I use, before with the
Dapol fittings I was using No.19's

Hope that may be some help.

Hi aleopardstail,

You asked about some Dapol wagons........
and their use with Kadees.
Here is one of the regular Dapol coupling pockets

Image

I used #19, but they are mounted slightly high so the alignment is not within the 'perfect' zone.

Image

I frequently modify with the Peco PA-34 mountings (Sand the base to get the correct height)

Image

Then you have what you want for reliable all aspect operation

Image

The more open track turns you have the shorter the coupler you can use.
As done here #19's. Hope this info is of some use.

Cheers, very useful, will be experimenting here at some point - given the self centring bit is half the issue with the banannanannannana vans a replacement pocket is a good idea

helpful pics too :)

Slapped down a 30 quid deposit on Hornby Magazine's limited run Accurascale Class 60 sound fitted Territoral Army Centenary loco. Just have to wait until 2026 now and pay the balance!
