Most systems now allow the use of extended accessory packets to control signals, and NCE even allow you to send them from your handset using macros, but Lenz are the only manufacturer I know that actively blocks them.

Lenz have the new command station and boosters and has irritatingly discontinued the 'T' terminal for commoning boosters, and they have the new LH101 handset that is an improvement on the previous handsets. They are moving slowly, but not necessarily forward in all matters.
