It's probably worth noting that the sides of coaches in passenger service were kept fairly clean:

Underframes, ends and roofs tended to be quite dirty. Sides were not showroom clean though.

I like to spray my coaches all over with acrylic - first earth, then black. Shortly afterwards, I use Qtips and ammonia based window cleaner to "wash" the sides, letting paint residue find its' way into crevices.

Hahaha Shaun. I agree with you. I've already decided he is banned for simply being too good! Lets form an alliance and force him to be rubbish from now on!!! :lol:

Yea it fairly does, jas :)

all my weathered stock is away to new homes and have been replaced with all new or near new so im scared to try and attempt to weather them in case they turn out wrong :lol: maybe be better just to box the lot up and send them to the man. :wink: :wink: hint hint

I was scared to try it to start with, but if you use things like pastels or the modelmates weathering dyes they all wash off if you're careful. And if happy just matt varnish it in place. That's all I did to start with... Not that I've got much further naturally lol...

How do you apply the varnish, is it spray on or brush on.

Just a cheap spraycan of artists mat... Few quid and lasts for a while pal... Nothing too fancy needed I don't feel..
