Hello Brightonman. This thread has not come to its proper end until, at least, I get to add my late-as-usual comments.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this diary of development.

And for the hundreds of hints ("I used the frames of the original windows by carefully cutting them out (a time consuming job!) then sticking them onto clear acetate. The net curtains are bits of surgical dry wipes.")
Too I am grateful for your references to http://www.wordsworthmodelrailway.co.uk and to https://scalescenes.com. I have d/l a few kits so that I can see how well my hand/eye coordination is before spending $$$ on shipping and delayed handling.

In summary, this thread alone is worth my annual subscription fee to http://www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk (grin)

I confess to being a tad perturbed at your level of skill and dedication. That said, I rather hope that you started all this as you find me now - trepid, if that's the word I want as I venture towards trepidation!

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris. I'm glad you found this thread useful. I defiantly have more dedication than skill! To be honest, an lot of things I've done on the layout I've picked up from other people along the way, and without some top tips and help from NRM members I doubt I would have a train running yet (electrics are not my strongpoint). I'll take credit for the surgical dry wipes though
