Very realistic indeed - I'd have believed that was real stone!

Cheers Phred,

The plan is to have a fence just in front of the back board. The right side is level so quite an easy task to install a rusty corrugated iron one. On the left however the banking is on a slope, so I am going to go with a six foot wooden fence made with drink stirrers kindly donated by the motorway services that I stopped at last night:

Step1, Chop them into 24mm x 2mm strips:

A bit of scrap 2mm ply will make an excellent backing to glue the planks to:

The planks don't look vertical on the left in the picture, but it's just the way the angle distorts the picture. Just need some paint now to age it.

Something else that I am trialing with this project is only glueing down the essentials, therefore the fence is removable and will be free standing.

The bare wood needs a bit of paint, it's not intended to be a pristine garden fence. I find that loads of water and very little paint works best, it's more like a stain than a coat of paint.

I probably need a bit more light in this picture, but you should get the general idea:

I though that it was about time that I put a length of track down, things are also starting to turn green:

Starting to turn green? My wife would have sent me out with the lawnmower before it got to that stage!

Wet glue all over the place, but things are certainly sprouting.

Once the ballast has dried out I need to get some rust onto the rails.

The main donkey work is now complete, and it's just a case of titivating and adding small bits.

It's been fun and enjoyable, so much so that I might knock up another little unit with a completely different theme.

Thanks guys.

The proof as they say is in the pudding, the concept for this little project was to produce a small photo plinth and I guess that the aim has been achieved:

14 Days to go.

Time running short
I have just dragged mine of the shelf to see if there is any titivating required.

Whilst it's sitting on the bench I thought it would be a good time to take a snap of my first acquisition of the year:

That's quite unusual.
An Engineers van from Immingham, I'm wondering what direction
this is pointing?
Could be interesting.
