Forget wasting money on DCC if it's not your thing, just a simple electrolytic capacitor and a diode to keep the interior lighting on is all you need. I've done it on a few DMUs, choose the right capacitor will keep the led lights on for a good 30 seconds. Talking about capacitors, my new inverter welder is stuffed full of super capacitors and keeps on running for ages after the power is disconnected! They are amazing things!
