Yes but when a DPDT switch is used as the means of polarity reversal, you of course have to remember to operate the switch to the route needed. IMO with DCC I would opt for automatic reversal of polarity. Use an Auto Frog pair or a dual Frog juicer to do the work and forget about it. :D

I'll look into these options, thanks. Would it be possible to link the dpdt switch (ddc bus powered) to the point motor switch (on a separate dc power circuit) for the feeding point do a similar job?

Yes, if you have a point that leads onto the diamond crossing then using that points movement to actuate a switch, is another way of switching the frogs polarity. :D

Yes you can. Go to the Peco site.

AFAIK that is correct. Peco only produce in Code 100 an Insulated Frog diamond crossing. The Electrofrog versions are in alternative code rails e.g. SL-E193 and SL-E194 are electrofrog but have Code 75 rail.
Of course you can obtain transition rail joiners and also short transition track sections to allow the two codes to be used together. :D

Ok... as can been seen from the questions I ask I am not very electronically savvy. So in the interest of clarity am I right in concluding that installing an auto reverse module or Dual Juicer that that would solve the original shorting issue?

Only needed on an Electrofrog diamond crossing.
Nothing is needed for polarity correction on an Insulated frog diamond crossing.

What you may like to test is about a 1mm wide strip (No longer) of paint or nail varnish applied to the top of metal rails at their closest place at the frog of the diamond. The paint or nail varnish provides a simple and quick tiny strip of insulation on the rail top, so as metal wheels are no longer able to touch the two rails and cause a short. However, its not long lasting as it will need repainting frequently especially after rail cleaning.
The red bit Ive drawn on show the basic idea...
