I wanted to try and re-create the wonderful patina that the LT pannier tanks had, after they'd had some use, but before they got totally blackened. I didn't have the courage to dive in and weather the latest Bachmann offering so started with an old Mainline black 57xx. Couplings will probably be changed to Kadees some time in the future.

A couple of closeups of the cabsides:

A full side view - sorry about the wonky handrail but this exercise was about colour/weathering not expert loco detailing:

And finally a view on the incomplete layout:

'Canvas' cabside curtains have since been added but the weather's too bad to take outside to film.

I couldn't find a suitable goods shed for my layout so ended up anglicising a Walthers one. As there are only a few pics of buildings in this thread I thought this would make a bit of a change.

Here is a few pictures of my first weathering project for a steam locomotive, using the DCC Concepts Weathering Powders. It only took about Half and Hour, compared to my first ever weathering job which took me 3 hours for some reason. Still they are all worth it. It's the Bachmann 3MT Tank, I found a picture of a weathered Bachmann 4MT Tank in a Artical about layout maintnce in this months Hornby Magazing, and thought it looked good. As the 3MT in virtualy the same, I decided to have a go.

This is one of the side water tanks and pistons

One of the Bunker and cab entrence

One showing the whole side of the locomotive

One of the front end and around the boiler

And Finaly, one of inside the Smokebox. You might wonder why I weathered inside the smokebox, but it's to make the boiler tubing look rusty.

So Those are all the pictures

Thanks, I'm suprised that it looks as good as people are suggesting, it only took me about half a hour!

Some cracking examples here, love the LT Panniers. I weathered a graham farish suburban yesterday, it's a little heavy as i haven't dusted down the talcum powder properly, but i think it's a 'positive' transformation and not completely ruined
