Re: Track Laying begins...
i personally use panel pins as there loads cheaper than the specific "track pins" i know there silver but nothing a bit of paint or ballast won't cover

Gone for a DCC bus
Main line droppers in place.
Another view of the droppers in place.
Would love some comments on this. unsure if I am doing it correctly!!

Re: Track Laying begins...
Looks really organised to me. Like the actual size trackplan being used to position the droppers. Nice touch. I always place the track then struggle to drill after.
Are you using terminal blocks for each dropper connection? If so you might want to consider scotchloks. I used them on my first attempt and they made the connections very easy.

Yeah had considered them. I was only using the choc block as the cable that I am using for the bus is lots of cable joined together. Always wondered what to do with the bundles of IEC mains cables!!Rammy wrote:Looks really organised to me. Like the actual size trackplan being used to position the droppers. Nice touch. Re: Track Laying begins...
Had a quick rethink. Had some help and a bit of a re-design:

Re: Track Laying begins...
I glued all my track down, not a pin in sight. Just smeered PVA down, put track down and weighted it down with food tins - cat/dog food tins are particularly good as they're quite heavy
Also I soldered the droppers to the underside of each rail BEFORE laying the piece of track, on the basis that it's easier to solder in one place rather than tryign to do it in situ on the layout. Not saying any of this is the best way, just an alternative way

Great looking plan there. I look forward to seeing this one progress.

Your missus is going to kill you when she comes home and finds what you've done to the kitchen worktop!
Good work though, can't beat a bit if decent woodwork....

Not quite there with the carpentry!! What can be seen is mainly only temporary until I have laid the track etc, then the finishing off will be done, but thanks anywayRammy wrote:Nice carpentry skills there mate. Looking good.

Nice! Love the removable part too, very handy! Luckily in my case SWMBO doesn't mind too much so hopefully it will stay that way!!
