Nice video! The music was soothing yet somehow unnerving... :?

Hi

Thought I should add a bit more explanation for the non-initiated. You've probably gathered from elsewhere on the site that I like modelling a prototype. So this is taking that concept to an extreme, in that I'm modelling a prototype of a 'Toy Train' or at least my slant of a toy train. So that's why I'm going to all the trouble of making a box, which will have labels and instructions etc, exactly like a real toy train.

It's just another take on what we are all doing, I don't expect anyone to fully grasp it (I certainly haven't), but I hope to make something that can be viewed on many levels, be it in it's box, or set up with the train running.

To put you out of your misery, translation goes along the lines of:

'New for Christmas 2006' , 'The train to Holstenwall, 'The nightmare that never ends', 'You must become Caligari' and finally 'Will you stop at Holstenwall?'

If we have any fluent German readers and I've got it terribly wrong, I would be very interested in the correct translations for the above English statements.

Unfortunately, I don't think these will ever make it ontro the shelves of Toys R Us. I did give it momentary consideration, but the health and safety requiremens, trading standards, insurance and all the rest before you stick a CE mark on them is totally prohibative for me.

This is only Mk1 prototype anyway, it might develop in another direction that I'm toying with (bad pun). So watch this space....

At the moment I am broad brushing it as a bit of art so it attracts copyright protection and I have an automatic design right on the scratch built bits

Well, I have just finished watching the film and I think it is all falling in to place now. I have a feeling that I will need to watch it again to fully follow the story, but this will certainly make an interesting concept.

Hi Pete !!!!!

Sorry only just caught up with your videos. Very interesting
Great sound track and effects titling. Looks to be comming on a treat. I love those houses, so long since I saw them.
Good luck with it and I look forward to seeing more. I don't sleep well anyway.

My Very Best Regards

Hello Bill

Started collecting some ephemera to go in the box,

Image

I'm currently searching for some tatty european postcards from the 1920's.

Unfortunately I'm tied up for the next two weekends so progress is slowing, but I hope to have something more concrete to show at least by Christmas.

That does look ominous Pete - the sepia effect really sets the photo off

Here's the pic in colour:

The buildings are just prototypes, I'll be making some more this weekend, I'm also off to Hay-on-Wye to see what 'ephemera' I can get to go in the case with it all; I'm particularly after a few tatty European postcards from about 1913-1940 (I'd love some letters, but don't think I will be able to find anything suitable, I've thought about faking a few), a copy of anything by the French author Celine, and maybe a tatty map of pre-war Europe too.
