TBF Ex-Pat it's a good high loft, any cross beams are above head height. Compared to what I was used to this is more like a room than a loft.

Hi all, can I give a shout out  for this guys products on Ebay (no connection)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256848587846 ... media=COPY

I was very impressed by the "O" gauge Girder Bridge on Dalnotter Riverside layout at Moderail Scotland
I asked the operator if this was a kit and he kindly gave me details of its source, I contacted the guy and asked if he did an OO version and he said that he could, this is the listing I have linked to.  I have bought a set as it is a type of girder widely used in Scotland, apparently the inspiration was the one at Coatbridge Fountain. I have it put aside for the new layout

That is printed with filament. I designed and printed one in 3D resin to a similar design, but it tends to warp over time, whereas filament is much more stable but not as finely detailed. His prices are very good!

Hi all

Tracklaying is now underway, I have laid and wired the Terminal Station and Suburban low level station

20250708_085924_copy_2448x3264.jpg
Progress has been a lot slower that I would have liked, it's amazing how being a few years older makes such a difference in how much effort you can put in!
With this in mind I have decided to discard the Mavisbank and Northbridge sections of the layout for the foreseeable future and make this a simpler layout with all track on one level. This still leaves a lot of layout with a bigger fiddle yard and much more scenic work. What was to be Mavisbank will be a city centre scene with roads and buildings in place of tracks and a station. There will be more scope for further freight facilities and a small DMU served suburban terminus. The boards for thus part of the layout are under construction just now, will finalise the track plan once this is completed

More detail to come once I sort them out.

Cheers

Oh, I feel that given your layout building skills, a modest reorganisation of Scotland's geography would be well within your reach. Go on ....

G'Day LMB

Nice to see your new layout taking shape, I know exactly what you mean with the amount of work you can do with the passage of time, a couple of hours and I have to rest for a while

Hi all

Not much more track laid as I decided to press on with the remaining baseboards, taking the layout right round the loft. Although the baseboard surfaces are all fresh 9mm ply, much use has been made of recycled timber for the frame. The previous owner had built some partitions in the loft, when I stripped these down all the timber was reused. The builder who did my roof also overestimated the amount of battens he needed and left them for me. These have proved invaluable, long 2" x 1" timber, perfect for the frame.

Moving away from the main station, this will be the main MPD, the trackplan will be the same as the last loft layout. Points are in place awaiting wiring.
20250902_093641_copy_3264x2448.jpg
The top end of the layout will feature a diorama based on Coatbridge Town Centre, where the line will cross two roads and the canal. This is one of these ideas that arose from the purchase of that bridge kit.
20250902_093656_copy_3264x2448.jpg
Down the back of the layout will be the fiddle yard with a double track main line to the front featuring an island platform through station.
20250902_093648_copy_3264x2448.jpg
Finally behind the trapdoor we will see a small urban terminal and some goods facilities, this bit is still going rejigged for the fourth or fifth time!

Cheers

You'll have a really decent run when finished Jim.

The points on the curve look interesting.

Coming along nicely.

Jim.
