Re: GCR in Scotland! Rothley now not Loughborough!

Post by iankemp »

The midland signal box is near enough done with interior nearly finished. I have also been trying to get the track sorted and layed for the loco shed. Which is proving a bit of a challenge so that i don't get any points on the joins of the boards, i don't want to start cutting points . I have given the Dumbarton East signal box a bit of weathering and the interior detailing will be finished at some point. I haven't really been doing much on the station for Dumbarton East lately as i have been far too distracted with other projects. I suppose i will have to try and get it done at some point!

They are Springside kits. I bought them off ebay from a ebay seller called Kitlady. They are very quick sending them out! Well worth it. Lots of parts and instructions!

Well i have bitten the bullet and bought my first sound decoder and speaker. It is for one of my peaks that i have got so many of! I am not sure which one i want to put it in yet, the only thing is i can't put it in my new peak as that is a 21 pin decoder and the other ones are 8 pins. I have thoughts of putting it in my green D4 Great Gable. I will be saving up to get a 21 pin version of it. It is a LokSound one which i bought off a website. I saw some on ebay the other week so when i thought of getting one this week they had all gone.
Also i have pre ordered the Bachmann 44-116 Great Central Waiting Room from Hattons as they will be getting another shipment of them in from Bachmann, How do i know? I emailed Bachmann and they are waiting for a shipment date from China so when Hattons get em i will be getting mine not long after that!

Well i now have taken delivery of my wagons that i ordered. 2 from Heritage railway magazine and 2 from West Wales Wagon Works They are from the Mountsorrel wagon collection. I am hoping that they will do the other one they have done then i will have the collection as a percentage is going to the Mountsorrel Railway to maintain the railway on the branch line. I also got myself a great bargain off ebay. A sealed nose peak from the modelzone/Bachmann that TMC did as well for £80 which they normally go for ££££ on there! Early bird gets the worm as they say as it was on there for 5 min when i saw it and bought it!

Here is a bit of an update.

I have started to build the shed area. It is made from Wills plastic sheets and also Evergreen stuff so far.

Unfortunately when i try to post the [img] code it is telling me Your images may only be up to 800 pixels wide.

It is on photobucket and they should have automatically sorted them for me!

Here is the link to the album

Hi Ian - personally I find Flickr much easier to use, you can directly link to the correct size of photograph for the forum without changing the original photo properties. it is a straightforward cut and paste job.

This Signature Left Intentionally Blank, but since I have written this and I intended to do it, this Signature is intentionally not blank. Paradox or What?

Thanks for that Don and Jim. I have used PB for ages and had no problem till they messed with it!

On another note i have nearly finished the roof supports. Done 3 of them and it is just the very end gables to finish off. Then once that is done i can then set about sorting the roof out.

Work has slowly resumed on my layout. I have been doing some scenic work on the slope down by the loco shed.

Due to the stupid resizing thing on here links will now be in place to view the pictures.

Work has continued a bit. It now has a shed area and the area has been plastered but there are bits that need redoing. I have bought more bits for the shed that i have been building. So soon it will have a roof and sky lights. I will also be installing normal lights at some point. Which would be better strip lighting or just bulbs?

I have also been doing scenic work on the end of the station platform. Been re stocking the Lichen and other bits. So next week i will be getting on with the work that needs doing.
