I don't quite understand....this was an email received on 13/10/24 (copied below) which is less than a month ago ?

Statement from Train Mad Grandad!

As from today, after all my efforts put into trying to produce an entertaining and inclusive vehicle for as many rail and modelling enthusiasts, I have decided to stop wasting my time and just leave the site to disappear when the paid hosting is coplete in May 2025. Visitor stats are on an ever decreasing downtrack. Indeed, since August 9th, 2024 of the last first time visitors, only 7% ever returned for further visits. Nobody has requested a subscription to regular newsletters I clearly have not understood the need for such a website!

I would like to say a REALLY BIG THANKYOU to those few special people who offered kind words and encouragement. Your support was much appreciated. I started the website to offer enthusiasts a chance to express themselves as well as giving me a personal challenging activity as 72 year old at a time when dementia is becoming a greater problem.

Yours sincerely,

Trevor Powell

TMG has just posted the same newsletter on an American Forum.

Hi Flashbang,

Prescotian is the guy who wanted to start an on-line community.
His only postings on NRM are him joining and telling about his 'Launch'
and then this one saying it's been a failure and he's closing it down.

I could say it's spam, but that would be a bit harsh. He did try something,
it just didn't work out. We could delete, or just leave to die. You never
know he may want to join in here rather than pushing his project.

I'm not sure if that means dementia is affecting Trevor's cognitive skills or if he is caring for someone else who is affected, which can be just as bad if not worse.

Either way, in the chaotic online world with everyone and everything clamoring for attention, it's hard to know what/who is real and what's not.

I sympathise with TMG in trying to set up a website for model railway enthusiasts, then finds very few visit the site.

Unfortunately, websites arent a 'set up, sit back and watch visitors grow' type thing. They need hard work to get the visitors. You have to have content which is new and changes or is updated regularly.

You also need to include relevant buzz words within the site's header code that search engines will pick up so your site comes near the top of search engine's results.
