I had the email about these, they look good as generic coaches, pondering some of the GNR ones to use as a local rake in place of the generic Hornby ones

Very nice!

I can see modellers getting into the hobby buy purchasing a single locomotive and a few coaches and loving it! :D (Understand attractive prices are very hard to achive).

But yes! Is really exciting! almost makes me miss 00 ! :D

But I will say that the fun I am having with simple scratchbuilding... :D Sorry Rapido. Not for me though I am tempted! :D

I do love those coaches! :D

Personally, I think these are a complete waste of time and money. They should be producing models of real coaches and not making toys!

inclined to agree, find a reasonably generic looking prototype and make that, at least then its "right" in one livery even if not in others.

they look nice, but are far too expensive to be incorrect everywhere

Likewise, I feel this is a misjudgement on Rapido's part, due to effective and growing competition. Hornby (!) have managed the Gresley LNER non-gangwayed very successfully, which are effectively continuation of GNR design exterior panelling, and Ellis Clark have very fine looking LNER Quad Art full sets on show, from the same GNR/LNER stable. And now there's Bachmann announcing LNWR Arc roofed stock as a follow on from their well received SECR Birdcage stock.

Hopefully Rapido will make money on theirs, probably from those that run wooden private owner wagons behind their class 66, but I would have some doubts about price sensitivity from this sector...

Personally, I think anyone who has an interest in the liveries offered by Rapido will have sufficient knowledge and discernment to want the liveries on models of real coaches. If they can't have this, they will most likely build kits.

Hornby's modern coaches have been successful as have Bachmann's because the ARE models of real coaches. Likewise Eliis Clark's quadart and Bachmann's LNWR coaches will be successful because they are all models of real coaches. Those who have an interest in them will have sufficient knowledge about them and not accept 'generics' as a compromise.

If the price of generics is little different to mainstream coaches, it begs the question as to what the point is.
Some say it broadens the market, but to who ? Most likely the folk who run wooden PO wagons behind their class 66.

I've ordered some. Generic is perfects for me and those full brakes look magnificent.
In a world of fences and doors who needs windows and gates?

I've preordered the LB&SCR Three pack, not sure if I'll have to cancel if I can't afford it come the time. The livery goes with my LB&SCR locos, the generic nature of them isn't am issue as on my layout it's the 'London, Beaglington & South Coast Railway
