G scale layout on a barge

Post by Lancastrian »

TRAVIS is a barge, so what is it doing in the model railway section.

To quote my friend "We're down in Skipton for the festival weekend again this year. I have an LGB garden railway that I set up on Travis's cabin roof when at rallies

Travis is a replica Dutch Barge built to order by Pickwell and Arnold in 2004, it is 58 feet x 12 feet and weighs about 40 tons. It has a 90hp Ford diesel engine, 5500 litre tanks and 2250 lt fuel tanks and Kabola central heating.

How far can the barge go? I assume one has to keep to water.

Yes it certainly has, he lives on it when travelling around the waterways, canals and rivers. but he also has a garden layout at home.
