Outage
Hi everybody we've had a long outage caused by some
Server incompatibility that neither the Mods, or owner could
solve.
Hope we are back & stable.

Re: Outage
Yes, good to see you back. No mention on your Facebook page, got worried a bit :0) Nice revamped look though
Re: Outage
Hi Dave,
Yes, it was most concerning. Simon had to report back and leave
the 'Experts' to sort out what went wrong.
There is something strange about the graphics even now. I can't
say exactly what it is, perhaps it's the lack of adverts ??

Re: Outage
That was a surprise, returned yesterday after a week away at a location the internet forgot, and 'NRM busted'. Happy to see it has now returned, good work by those responsible.

Glad to see the site is back up, I was starting to think it was gone for good.
Re: Outage
Happens all the time on these phpBB 'bulletin' boards. We have it time to time on another webforum I moderate on. If it's back end stuff, you just have to be patient while the cone heads sort it out.

Re: Outage
Hi all, the site went down whilst I was on-line, Dad-1 confirmed he had the same, all either of us could do was email Simon at the Newmodellersshop and all he could do was get the host site to sort it. Meanwhile I was out of it for 48hrs trotting off to the Metropolis to take a ride on the British Pullman. It was a Murder Mystery tour from Victoria to Victoria via Dover Priory, taking a rather convoluted route around Kent. Two mysteries solved, who done it, and how long was it since we last rode this train. Like the Mousetrap we are sworn to secrecy as to who, and In the second instance it was 29 years ago, and that took even more working out. Got it down to a choice of '89 or '94, final clincher I thought the un-refreshed MK2 first-class seats were b' awful and in 94 we'd have been in a Turbo on the Chiltern line. Mrs W muttered something about nerds
Relieved to find the site back up this morning. My guess something to do with the age of our version of phpBB, but don't fix it 'till it's broke was probably the best course.
Cheers

I believe that we are now up to date John, so we are probably okay for a while now.Bufferstop wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 4:41 pm My guess something to do with the age of our version of phpBB, but don't fix it 'till it's broke was probably…

Re: Outage
'M, from comments on the phpBB's own site, and the cryptic error message updating was probably the simplest fix. I think the old version didn't recognise the latest version of mySQL, just glad it wasn't something we had to sort for ourselves. I've got a version of mySQL (must be an old one it's free) on one of our backup boxes, there's quite a learning curve, if you want to do anything serious with.
