Writing from the USA. I note that Hobby Trax is offering a "keep alive" called Farad Hey. It is designed ONLY for Hornby 8-pin TTS decoders. Has anyone any experience with these TTS-only keep alive units? Heard anything? Not expensive.
Thanks

Re: Hobby Trax "Farad Hey"
Says it will also work with the ordinary Hornby R8249 decoders
"Please note this will only work with Hornby 8 pin decoders R8249 and ALL the Hornby TTS modules. It is not compatible with the 6 pin decoder or those from any other manufacturer"

Re: Hobby Trax "Farad Hey"
"you only have one wire to solder to a component on the decoder PCB"
I'm adept at soldering and even I wouldn't try that.
Seems expensive.
Can't a simple capacitor be added instead?
Also I noticed in the web address it states 25,000uf
https://www.hobbytrax.co.uk/collections ... y-decoders
But on the item itself it states 33,000uF
And - "The module is approx 20x12x15mm"
Depending on whether it is 22Kuf or a 33KuF capacitor, I would imagine / expect the physical size of each capacitor to be different.
I think the webpage needs proofreading with it's possibly conflicting information.
Thanks

Hmm. Maybe this falls in the category "too good to be true?"

Re: Hobby Trax "Farad Hey"
I wonder why it's stated for use only with specific decoders?
Is there extra electricky along with what's basically a capacitor?
Thank
