Here we have a Brush built battery loco at the Avonmouth military mustard gas factory near Bristol during WW1. Brush had ordered a very small battery loco from Siemens some time before entering into production of this type, nothing in the Siemens range from that period comes close so possibly it was to test out the electrical side.

The first Brush loco pic is usually ascribed as being at Gretna. It is usually credited to the imperial War Museum but try as I might I've never been able to find it in their collection. If this image exists then there might yet be others to surface hopefully.

The 3 locos of this type that went to Hythe Pier are ex-Avonmouth. 2 are still extant as one was broken for spares. All that remains of it is the partially-stripped motor.
