Interlocking 2 Cobalt IP Digital Point Motors

Post by mikehextall »

Not sure if Electronics is the right category for this or if it should be DCC but here we go anyway.

I've got 2 Cobalt Ip Digital Point Motors that sit either side of a cross over and want them both to throw at the same time using a single push button switch, what is the best way to do this?

Will that work when activated by a push button though?

IMO easiest is to use the PB to operate motor 1 then via motor 1 change over contacts feed motor 2. Then when motor 1 reaches end of travel motor 2 moves over. Wire two fast recovery diodes inverse to each other onto contacts and their joined end to T2 of motor 2. Motor 2 T1 connects directly to the DCC bus then connect the other DCC bus to the common switch contact on Motor 1

For PB operation their DCC address number is irrelevant. If you wanted them to move together via a DCC Command then giving them the same address number is OK to do and both will move together via that the DCC command
