Hi all, I’m new here, decided to get my boxed Hornby railway sets and set them up in a new home, so may be asking for various help at all levels, have already boarded loft area, just the hard part (enjoyable part) to do now. DIJP

Welcome, and my top tip for this scenario: do everything you can to prevent anything - including yourself - falling out of the loft area onto whatever may lie beneath.
